Discovering the Top 10 Brazilian dishes


Among the dense tropical forests, lie a rich culture and night life. It stretches from miles of coastline to fabulous countryside. Similarly, its food is much diverse and unique in taste, flavors, colors and aromas, compared to non in the world. So if you are planning to spend your vacations in Brazil, here is a top list of Brazilian dishes that you must try out.
1. Brazilian Chicken with Coconut Milk
This dish is true representation of South American cooking. It’s mostly served with rice.
Directions
Take a medium sized bowl. Add cumin, coriander, turmeric and cayenne pepper and mix all the ingredients. Put the chicken in bowl and coat it with the prepared spicy mixture.
Heat some olive oil in skillet. Place chicken in it. Fry it for 15 min, making sure all the chicken gets enough heat, until it turns brown. Remove skillet from the stove and set it aside.
Take finely cut onion, jalapeno peppers and garlic in a bowl. Cook the ingredients in the skillet. Add tomatoes and cook for 5 min. Add coconut milk and stir all the contents. Serve it in a clean dish and garnish it with parsley.
2. Brazilian Rice
Extremely delicious Brazilian Rice.
Directions
Add oil in saucepan and put the pan on gentle heat. Add onion and garlic. Fry it till the contents are tender, for 5 min. Now add rice and mix it thoroughly with the fried contents until clumps of rice are formed.
Take water, salt and lemon juice in a saucepan. Simmer it for 10 min, until all the water is absorbed. On low heat, heat the covered saucepan for 15 min, until rice become soft.
Serve it while warm.
3. Brazilian Fish Stew 
This is super easy and full of flavor. It is served with rice and warm tortillas.
Directions
Take pepper, salt, garlic, cumin and lemon juice in a bowl and stir all of them together. Add tilapia in bowl and coat it with spicy mixture. Cover it in sealed plastic bag and refrigerate for 20 min.
Take a large pot and some olive oil in eat. Fry onions in the oil for 2 min. Put tilapia and diced tomatoes in the pot. Add some coconut milk in it and cover the pot. Simmer it for 15 min. Continue cooking for 10 min. Cook until tilapia is completely fried.
4. Canja
This Brazilian soup is distinct in taste and flavor from ordinary soups, by the addition of rice, carrots, chopped ham and tomatoes. It is healthy as well.
Directions
Take saucepan and add chopped tomatoes, carrots and rice into it. Add salt and pepper according to your taste. Simmer the rice for 25 min until the rice become soft.
Take a large saucepan and add chicken and onions. Cover and simmer it for 45 min.
Cool the chicken at room temperature. Then cut it into straps measuring 1/2 X 1 1/2 inches. Put the chicken into soup and cook for few min just to heat the soup. Serve and garnish it with parsley.
5. Picadinho'A Brasiliera 
Most authentic Brazilian vegetable and ground beef dish.
Directions
Take a large pot and add olive oil in it. Add onions and garlic and cook until color of onions turn golden brown. Put ground beef, bell pepper, tomatoes, parsley and eggs into bowl and mix them.
Put the meat mixture into pot containing fried onions. Cook on high heat, until beef becomes brown. Simmer for 15 min. Add red pepper flakes and stir all the mixed contents. Continue heating, until all the liquid evaporates for about 1 hour.
6. Brazilian-Style Beef Ribs
A must eat dish, when you go to Brazil.
Directions
Take a sharp knife and remove chewy membrane off the meat from the shiny surface. Rub the ribs thoroughly with salt. Place the ribs in the roasting pan. Put the ribs in a preheated oven and bake them for 6 hours.
Baste the beef carefully with water. Make sure to not to drain off salt. Bake it in oven for 6 hours.
7. Pan de Queso (Brazilian Cheese Buns) 
These buns are mostly served with other traditional Brazilian foods (rice, beans). Best served, when warm.
Directions
Add milk, oil, salt and water in a large saucepan and boil the contents. Remove it from stove and add tapioca starch. Mix it well and then cool it for 15 min.
Transfer this mixture in a bowl. Add egg and mix it thoroughly. Fold it in Parmesan cheese. Knead until dough is smooth.
Take out small amounts of dough and roll it in the form of small balls. Place then in a baking sheet. Bake them in a preheated oven for 20 min, until their color turns golden brown
8. Brazilian Cheese Bread (Pao de Queijo) 
Are you in Brazil and suffering from Celiac disease or gluten intolerance? Well this is the perfect dish for you. It is gluten free and extremely delicious.
Directions
Add water, olive oil, milk and salt in a large saucepan and put it on high heat. When it boils, remove it quickly from heat. Add garlic and tapioca flour, and stir the mixture. Put it aside for 15 min.
Add egg and cheese in tapioca mixture and stir it well until mixture turns chunky. Take out 1/4 cup-sized balls of the mixture and put it on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 min. Stop baking when tops are lightly brown.
9. Po de Queijo (Brazilian Cheese Bread) 
Always served as an appetizer but is extremely mouth watering.
Directions
Take saucepan and add salt and vegetables. Cook on medium heat constantly until mixture starts boiling. Remove it from stove and pour the mixture in a deep bowl.
Add tapioca flour into the bowl and stir it with wooden spoon. Cool for 20 min.
Add Pecorino Romano cheese and eggs in the mixture and mix all the contents with electric mixer until dough is soft. Make 2 to 3 inch balls from the dough and place them on a baking sheet.
Bake them in a preheated oven for 20 to 25 min, until dough balls become puffed up. Serve them warm.
10. Brazilian Grilled Pineapple 
This dish is famous in North-American steak houses.
Directions
Take an outdoor grill and put it on medium heat. Oil the grate lightly.
Take brown sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl and whisk them. Put the mixture in large sealed plastic bag and place pineapple wedges in it. Shake the bag so that the pineapple wedges are coated well with the mixture.
Remove the wedges from bag and place them on preheated grill. Grill them for 3 to 5 min.
